Took the dog for a walk yesterday.
We are still allowed to exercise as long as we are in groups of 2 or less.

Dog was sniffing the grass at the edge of the path and suddenly leapt in the air.
Looked around to see what was going on and found this on the path.
Not sure if it jumped out at her or if she pulled it out of the grass.
We watched it slither away.

That was our excitement for the day.

I wasn't unhappy to see it slither away.

There are a few of them in the park. A couple of the tracks have warnings on them about snakes. On one occasion we sighted 2 separate occasions of a kookaburra in a tree with a snake it had caught for lunch. My gut feeling is that the dog grabbed it and pulled it out of the grass. Usually a snake would avoid people and hide. Very unusual for one to show itself like that unless it had no choice in the matter. Better in the park than in my yard.

In the following analysis the French Professor Bruno Dubois Director of the Institute of Memory and Alzheimer's Disease (IMMA) at La Pitié-Salpêtrière - Paris Hospitals / addresses the subject in a rather reassuring way:

"If anyone is aware of their memory problems, they do not have Alzheimer's."

1. I forget the names of families ..
2. I do not remember where I put some things ..

It often happens in people 60 years and older that they complain that they lack memory. "The information is always in the brain, it is the "processor" that is lacking."

This is "Anosognosia" or temporary forgetfulness.

Half of people 60 and older have some symptoms that are due to age rather than disease.
The most common cases are:-

- forgetting the name of a person,
- going to a room in the house and not remembering why we were going there,
- a blank memory for a movie title or actor, an actress,
- a waste of time searching where we left our glasses or keys ...

After 60 years most people have such a difficulty, which indicates that it is not a disease but rather a characteristic due to the passage of years ...

Many people are concerned about these oversights hence the importance of the following statement:

"Those who are conscious of being forgetful have no serious problem of memory.”

"Those who suffer from a memory illness or Alzheimer's, are not aware of what is happening."

Professor Bruno Dubois, Director of IMMA, reassures the majority of people concerned about their oversights:

"The more we complain about memory loss, the less likely we are to suffer from memory sickness."

Finally a bit of relaxation to our lock down rules.

I can now drive 25k from my house.

Still can't leave Melbourne but life will be a bit easier.

Tomorrow is AFL Grand final day.

A day many thought would never come this year.

The season was stopped and re started several times.

Then came the lockdown and they put all the players in quarantine hubs.

When that got to hard they moved the hubs interstate.

Then that had problems so they condensed the required number of games into a much shorter time frame to catch up.

There were dramas and problems and dickhead jocks breaking the rules but despite it all they got there.

Now for the first time ever there will be a Grand Final somewhere other than the MCG.

No grand final parade for Victoria cause all the players are in Queensland and for the first time the game will be at night.

We still got a public holiday today but the streets are quiet and the MCG is silent.

But the 2 teams to play off for the big prize, Richmond and Geelong are both Melbourne teams and there are a number of fanatic fans keen enough to go to Darwin 3 weeks ago, do their 2 weeks enforced quarantine then make their way to Brisbane for the game.
There will be a crowd of 30,000 and tickets sold out in 20 mins.

To Quote my dear old Dad " All that fuss over a bag of wind "
